Reverse Mortgages The Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) is FHA's reverse mortgage program, which is a special type of home loan that lets you convert a portion of the equity in your home into cash. However, unlike a traditional home equity loan or second mortgage, HECM borrowers do not have to repay the HECM loan until the borrowers no longer use the home as their principal residence.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) SSI is a federal program, providing income for low-income or disabled older adults. You must meet specific eligibility rules to qualify for this program.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) This program offers free basic tax preparation for those who meet specific income requirements.
Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Program If you’re over 60 years old, you’re eligible for free tax assistance from IRS-certified volunteers with this program.
IRS Credit for the Elderly Seniors who meet specific eligibility criteria, may receive a credit between $3,750 and $7,500.
